Happy International Women's Day.

In the spirit of the day: I thought this post at mediagirl.org was very interesting. It's about reparations for women. A most intriguing idea.

I almost forgot!

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] bonjourananas for the California postcard! Mmm, fresh figs.

I love mail. I wish I got more of it. Which means I need to write (and mail) more of it in order to get replies. Which I actually did this week. Yay! (Someone on my friends-list is getting a surprise letter in the mail...yay again!)

Not so yay, however, is this awful headache and almost sore throat I've got. But I have only one sick day left until June (whoops), so I'm trying to avoid calling in sick, thus I am at work, hoping that I'm not infecting anyone. (But they were all here over the last two weeks, and sick, so it's just payback. Yes.)

Thanks to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] ardenstreet, I'm very curious about my friends list. She posed the following question here (and the entry is a really interesting read, so check it out.):

So, what did you do between the ages of 7 and 14 that really consumed you? What were your passions? What represented YOU?

My answer to that?

During those years, I had tons of penpals, too, and I wrote gigantically huge letters about all sorts of things. I made up strange stories to write in my friends' yearbooks. I drew and took art/drawing/painting classes. I learned how to ride a horse. I read whenever I could. I was really good at speaking French. I did well in school, but was bored a lot. I would pretend my book collection was a library, and sign out books for my stuffed animals, and instead of a date stamp, I used one of a bucket of popcorn that actually smelled like popcorn. I played the recorder and the flute, and I was good at both.

I miss those days. I need to create things more often now.

I keep saying I want to do more creative things, and I really mean it this time. I'm going to use my art supplies; I really miss drawing, even if I don't think I'm very good at it, really. I have all sorts of paints, pastels, etc, and I don't use them, and it's a shame.

I would love to read what you would all answer to that question. Hit me!
