Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim? Hell yeah! Definitely a movie I will be looking forward to watching.

I just finished watching Good Will Hunting, which I haven't watched in a good long while. I'd forgotten that there were so many enjoyable things in that movie. (Ben Affleck didn't make me want to vomit! Wow.)

Not enjoyable, however, is getting distracted by the internet during the end credits so that I didn't stop the movie while it was still on "Miss Misery" by Elliot Smith, and instead, let it play to the end so that I now have "Afternoon Delight" in my freaking head. Not. Cool.

Worse still, I really only know two lines of that song. GAH.

1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

I have made so much chocolate today that I'm beginning to dislike the smell of it. Ack! That is a sad state of affairs.

I only have a little bit more chocolate to make. And I think I'm going to run out of cookies, so I may have to make more. And I have to make more biscotti. This is what happens when Scott tells me two days ago that he'd like to have baskets for several people that I had not accounted for. Good thing I'm not working much this week.

Dude. Bring It On: In It to Win It comes out tomorrow. How exciting is that? Those are totally my favourite crappy ass movies. We shall see where #4 lands in the awesome badness that are the sequels.

I'm at home today, since the roads were crappy here this morning, and the crapiness was going to follow me from here to Toronto, so I called work and said I wasn't going to come in. And no one has called me, which I am shocked about, but I'm glad, too.

So, I'm watching 28 Days Later, FINALLY (hello, hot Cillian Murphy!), and I just checked my email for a moment, and now I'm all confused about why all of a sudden they have to get the hell out of there. I should start paying attention. The bad thing about Scott's DVD player is that it "rewinds" at only one really slow speed, so I can type this while getting back to a good spot to start watching again. (My DVD player can rewind at several speeds, but it has trouble playing burnt DVDs, of which we have a good many, and most of them are the movies I used to own, so I'd want to watch them a bunch. I just can't win!)

Anyway, back to zombies for me. YAY!

I could never figure out (until tonight) why I always had a vague feeling that I knew Daniel Craig from some other movie besides the James Bond one he was in (or any of the other movies Nat listed off when I was trying to place him, ages ago), and that he was fairly off-putting in it.

Then, tonight, I watched The Power of One for the billionth time and realized, Hey! He's the superfuckingasshole Sgt. Jappie Botha! I really should have realized that because of the eyes, and not from seeing his name in the credits (not next to the character name, though; I figured that one out on my own). His character makes me so mad, I always hope for the book ending, where Peekay beats the shit out of him in the mine town. Although, Gideon bashing him in the head with a really big stick is okay, too.

Which is now making me want to read the book again (also for the billionth time).

Dude! Goonies 2 is coming! Atleast according Sean Astin and Corey Feldman.
thetofupirate: (last $8)
Holy crap, I watched a lot of movies in 2006: 217!

Of those, 15 were seen in theatres, and 43 were TV on DVD seasons.

Damn.

Faves:
Veronica Mars Season 2
Little Miss Sunshine
Stranger Than Fiction
Twitch City
(finally!)
and Severed: Forest of the Dead (I finally got to see the Canadian zombie movie!!)

Although there were a lot more that I enjoyed, those just stick out in my head.

I will try to watch less movies this year, because damn! That's a lot of sitting around, and I didn't knit or do other crafting, or pack for moving for a lot of that time, and that's a little sickening to think about.

I've been really quiet lately, apparently. I hadn't even realized it, mainly because I'm still reading my f-list all the time.

Really, not much exciting has been going on. I've been busy trying to fundraise for The Weekend to End Breast Cancer, and working to save money for the house and blah blah blah not-very-interesting-cakes.

I've been fairly productive this evening, as I've had a food and movie night with Cameron, and replied to whole bunch of email, and it's not even 10 pm! My cat, however, is totally watching TV which makes me a terrible mom, because the TV is on "America's Got Talent". Blame it on the Hoff.

I might do some packing tonight. HOW did I end up with so much stuff? GAH!

Bah, I'm even boring myself now. I need some excitement.

I do need to say that [livejournal.com profile] llamacran was totally right to suggest I watch She's The Man. It was surprisingly good!

+ pirate jokes! (Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] starfishchick!)
+ Especially pirate jokes about Don McKellar!
+ making plans for finishing my certificate at the end of the year and getting to take the exciting fiction course!
+ exciting fiction course means it will cost me less to finish, since it's a half credit course!
+ which means I can use the other half credit course I took to count towards my degree! It wasn't looking like I'd be able to earlier in the summer.
- being at work with nothing much to do
+ being alone at work with nothing much to do means I can do whatever I want!
+ which means I can listen to the radio!
- but not internet radio, because these computers suck and don't have soundcards/speakers.
- having issues with tuning in to the CBC
+ the first song played on commercial radio is a Violent Femmes song!
- stupid commercials
- breaking my "I haven't listened to commercial radio on purpose in over two years!" streak
+ I might possibly hear something that I've never heard before, and like it.
- I will likely hear CRAP that I do NOT like.
+ second song is from Weezer's pinkerton album!
+ memories of the dance sequence from Clerks II (which has nothing to do with Weezer. It just jumped into my head.)
- UGH! I knew it. Third song is some Creed/Nicklecrap/whatever-shitty-ass-band song.

Looks like the positives are winning out so far. I like that.

Hey Toronto Peeps:

Are there three people out there who would like to attend a free sneak preview of A Prairie Home Companion tomorrow? It's at 7pm at Cumberland Cinemas, 159 Cumberland St.

The catches:
1. You'd have to meet up with me to get the thing to get tickets (I'll be going to watch it, too).
2. You need to get there at about 6pm, as there's no guarantee you'll get in if you go later, as it's first come, first seated.

First comments will get them.

Oh hell, yes!

It's going to be terrible. I NEED to rent it! Even if there aren't any pseudo cheering monks, like in Bring it on Again.

Just saw Match Point with [livejournal.com profile] listersgirl and [livejournal.com profile] starfishchick. It was way more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Plus, the company was very good - so nice meeting you, SFC!

And I figured out where I recognized Matthew Goode from...Chasing Liberty (which I remembered as I was standing next to my copy of it).

I'm glad I've never pretended to not like so-bad-they're-good movies, otherwise I'd be embarassed now.

In other totally unrelated news, I apparently have a new upstairs neighbour. While they have yet to blast really bad music, they totally need to buy a really fucking thick carpet. They sound like a freaking elephant.

And I was getting so used to the quiet. Le sigh.

I've not seen Million Dollar Baby, but this spoof, Million Dollar Gamer, is pretty darn awesome.

Too funny.

Movie meme. When I say "Didn't get it", I mean "I didn't get the hype because I was not impressed."
