My cat is in love with the Kratz Brothers.

It all started a while ago when the bad Saturday morning television on CBC I usually watched wasn't on, and instead The Kratz Brothers Be the Creature show was on instead. It was about birds, and Kaylee totally flipped over it. She was batting the screen, running around in circles, and then started batting one (and only one) of the Kratz Brothers.

So every Saturday after that, I'd make sure to turn on the TV for that hour so she could have some fun.

The other week I'd forgotten to turn on the TV in time. So she sat in the living room, meowing like crazy, and I was all "What do you want? You're fed. You've got toys. You've got water...WHAT?!" Then I looked at the clock, and realized her show had started a couple of minutes earlier. So I turned it on, and she was fine.

This morning I had the TV on for some distraction while doing dishes. Once I realized I was subjecting Kaylee (and myself) to The View, I hurried to change the channel, and decided to relive my childhood by watching some Mr. Dressup. And what comes on after Mr. Dressup? The Kratz Brothers' first show, Zooboomafoo! And Kaylee loves it, too.

I don't know if it's the brothers or the animals that she loves. When Daily Planet has animal stuff on, she doesn't bat an eye. But those Kratz Brothers? She goes crazy for them! She's currently sitting about a foot from the tv, craning her neck up to watch. Every once in a while I hear that static-y sound of her hitting the screen.

My cat is crazy. And a TV addict! I'm a terrible mother.

That is so cute, and so not like you cat. I can not picture it. My cats could care less about TV unless it is the Golden Girls, but then they only pause, look at it and keep on running. However JTHM has discovered the angel fish in the fish tank and he sits and watches it. Makes me concerned.

i love the kratz brothers, too! oh wow, and i had no idea that they did zooboomafoo, but that makes sense when i think back on it. that puppet they had used to really annoy me. but 'be the creature' is really cool. i tend to watch it on saturday or sunday early afternoons when there's nothing else watchable on TV (in my non-cable land).

your cat sounds so cute. i want a cat so bad...i'm getting close to getting one, but i'm not sure if my apartment is big enough for the both of us.

It's on Sundays, too? Dude! I had no idea. On CBC? I'll have to check it out so that Kaylee can have two days of it! (No cable here, either.)

I had no idea about Zooboomafoo until my boyfriend was checking to see if Be the Creature was out on DVD, and that's when he found out they were the same guys. And once he told me, I was all, "OF COURSE! How did I not notice that?"

Right now they are fascinated by the new XBox. They didn't give a shit about the old XBox, so...? They come running from any room in the house the moment it's switched on.

It goes "whirr", but... so did the old one. The DVD tray slides in and out, they like that in a "hate it" kind of way. sanity_clause got them addicted to a couple of the arcade-type games that came with it, but they were fascinated even before that.

I have to assume the specific pitch of the "whirr" noise is actually saying something in Cat.

Now THAT is cute. The closest I have is when my little dog (see icon) tried to attack a wolf on some show on the Animal Planet channel. He bolted right from the couch and tried to jump through the screen. And this dog weighs all of 16 pounds. Hee.

Kaylee also sometimes will look behind the tv for the animals, like, "Hey...why aren't the back there?"

I've started feeling bad at laughing at them for doing that, because really, even I only know they're not back there through a complex process of logical deduction (the cast of Friends doesn't live at my house, ergo they're not behind the TV) and having had people try to explain how TV works to me. If I could explain to them I would, but failing that, I'm in no position to laugh.

It's either 11am or noon on CBC...Aha! It's usually on at noon on Saturdays.

Thanks. I don't get the paper (thus no free t.v. guide), and I always forget to buy the T.V. guide magazine, so I never know when stuff is supposed to be on. I just kind of stumble into stuff. ;)

Awww that's awesome! Mona likes to chase the mouse icon around. I tried downloading one of those "made for cat" videos but she didn't seem all that interested in it.
